Vinted Users Share Frustration Over Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.
Digital Channels Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches similar services.
They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Updates
Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
