The British government is prepared to move forward with employing the full worth of seized Russia's holdings to bolster the Ukrainian war effort, PM Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a collective announcement, the officials of the UK, the French Republic, and Germany stated that this coordinated action would increase strain on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and compel Russia to participate in talks.

They added that the move would be implemented in strong partnership with the United States.

British restrictions have immobilized more than £25bn of Russian assets since the Russian government began its comprehensive attack against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. Yet, previously, resources provided to Ukraine using Russian holdings had exclusively been taken from gains and dividends generated on them.

Sir Keir told Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were in agreement in their desire to advance efforts toward using the full value of the immobilized Russia's state funds to end the war.

He stated that additional restrictions soon would increase the strain on Russia.

This declaration is subsequent to EU officials gathered in the Danish capital last week to consider employing immobilized Russia's funds for a €140 billion financial aid to Ukraine.

In the previous month, US President Donald Trump urged G7 allies to take or employ frozen Russian funds, based on media sources.

The value of frozen Russian holdings in the EU is calculated to be approximately €211bn.

Moscow launched extensive aerial attacks all over the Ukrainian territory on recently, causing power cuts in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv, and multiple additional areas.

Several persons were killed and no fewer than 20 people were wounded in the attack, Ukrainian officials said.

In a update on X following the attack, Zelensky commented that the cynical and calculated attack focused on non-military and power facilities.

"The necessity is not mere statements but firm measures - from the US, the European Union, and the G7 - in delivering anti-aircraft weapons and implementing penalties," he emphasized.

"All penalty impositions weakens the Russian war effort," Zelensky wrote, in a separate post.

Also on Friday, Zelensky stated to the press he would press Sir Keir to enter the Purl program, under which Nato countries buy weapons from the America to provide to Ukraine.

While commending the UK's firm backing for the Ukrainian government, he said it should indicate firmly that it would take part in the initiative, as well as impose more sanctions on Russia.
