The Two Fatalities Revealed in the Ivy League School Attack as Police Continue Search for Gunman.

Both young individuals who were killed in the weekend's mass shooting at Brown University had tributes paid to them on Monday – while an intensive search for their assailant continued following the release by local law enforcement of the sole person questioned in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was called “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, as stated by the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a gathering on Sunday.

She served as second-in-command of Brown’s branch of College Republicans of America, as the club stated. The White House press secretary also posted condolences on social media, remarking: “Words cannot express. Remembering her family and friends, particularly her mother and father.”

An International Student

The other deceased individual was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the Ivy League university, according to relatives.

Umurzokov’s identity was officially acknowledged by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He harbored grand aspirations of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a online post.

What Happened

An additional nine individuals were wounded in the weekend shooting in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Authorities said late Sunday that a man aged 24 taken into custody in a search at a lodging about around 27 kilometers from the scene earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“A perpetrator remains free,” declared Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you have to regroup and pursue a different angle, and this is precisely what occurred over the last approximately one day.”

Saturday’s killings at Brown, the country's seventh most historic college with about 7,300 undergraduate and 3,000 graduate students, happened during one of at least 392 shooting incidents recorded nationally so far in the current year, according to statistics. The following Monday was the 349th day of the year.
