Mohamed Salah Extends Statement to Teammates, Says Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones has revealed that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the entire Liverpool squad following the controversy from his public comments.
What Happened
The striker was dropped from a key Champions League match following criticising the club and suggesting his connection to the head coach had deteriorated.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, I apologise.’”
The head coach has previously declined to reveal on whether he received a personal apology from the veteran striker.
Moving Forward
The player stated that the team's response remained positive. “Nothing about him changed, he was smiling and it was business as usual,” Jones added.
Jones also implied that a player's desire to start is less of an issue. “I understand there are different methods you can handle situations,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just sit out, then I think that’s concerning.”
On-Field Response
The team's performance have stayed unbeaten in the matches since the situation. Jones believes the outburst were not designed to cause disruption.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it has consistently come from a place of caring,” he finished. “We’re past that now and we’re uniting strongly, playing well and on a positive run.”
